Cookies policy
What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site.
- First party cookies are cookies set by the website you’re visiting. Only that website can read them. In addition, a website might potentially use external services, which also set their own cookies, known as third-party cookies.
- Persistent cookies are cookies saved on your computer and that are not deleted automatically when you quit your browser, unlike a session cookie, which is deleted when you quit your browser.
How do we use cookies?
At cert.europa.eu we use "first-party cookies". These are cookies set and controlled by CERT-EU, not by any external organisation.
We only use one type of cookie: an Essential cookie, which is necessary for the technical functioning of the website.
In particular, we only use a single cookie which is necessary to store visitor's preferences. It is a first party persistent cookie, created when you click "OK" in the pop-up cookie notice, indicating that you have been made aware of our cookie policy. The cookie, once created, lasts for 60 days. This cookie remembers that you have clicked "OK" so that the notice will not pop-up again for the duration of the cookie.
Cookie information:
Cookie name | Cookie type and duration | Purpose |
---|---|---|
accept_cookies | First-party persistent cookie placed by CERT-EU and lasts for 60 days | Stores your preferences and hides the cookie notice pop-up |
Analytics cookies
At cert.europa.eu we do not use any analytics cookies.
Social Media
CERT-EU is active on social media platforms: mastodon, LinkedIn. CERT-EU is also active on GitHub.
Our website does not set cookies with the display of links to our social media channels when you are browsing our website.
When you click on the social media buttons on our website, you are re-directed to the relevant sites. Those sites have their own cookie and privacy policies. CERT-EU is not in control of those policies.
